Water Safety Lessons
Water Safety Starts Here
At SwimAmerica Hampton Roads, water safety is at the core of everything we teach. Our Water Safety Lessons are designed to help swimmers of all ages develop the essential skills and confidence needed to stay safe in and around the water.
Using the proven SwimAmerica curriculum developed by the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA), swimmers learn practical safety techniques alongside foundational swimming skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. From first-time swimmers to those looking to strengthen their water awareness, our program helps build lifelong habits that can make all the difference.
Essential Skills for Real-Life Situations
Our lessons focus on teaching swimmers how to safely navigate the water through age-appropriate instruction and structured skill progression. Swimmers learn important techniques such as floating, breath control, safe water entry and exit, treading water, and recovering to safety independently.
By practicing these core survival and safety skills consistently, swimmers gain greater awareness, confidence, and comfort in the water while reducing the risks associated with aquatic environments.
Confidence for Every Age & Ability
Water safety is not just for young children — it’s important for swimmers of every age and skill level. Whether your swimmer is overcoming fear, preparing for recreational swimming, or simply learning how to feel more confident around water, our instructors provide personalized guidance and encouragement throughout every lesson.
Living in a coastal community like Hampton Roads means water is a part of everyday life. Our goal is to help every swimmer build the confidence, awareness, and skills needed to enjoy the water safely for years to come.
